The best album produced by an Australian producer in 2005 was the 2005 Australian Pop Album of the Year, by AC Produce.
Producer Andrew Smith scored six of the nine nominations, and the band AC’s ‘Lovers’ and ‘Holidays’ were nominated for Album of The Year.AC’s 2005 album was the first by the band since 2006’s The End of the World and they also had their first UK Album of their own, their own Australian album and their first Australian Tour.
Smith’s ‘Apex’ was the only album nominated for album of the year, but it was not the best Australian album.
Smith’s album of that year was the 2010 album ‘Boom Boom’.
Producer Mark Blyth’s album ‘The Final Hour’ was also nominated for an Australian Album of its own, with ‘Loving’ (featuring singer/guitarist Joe Budden).
The Best Australian Album nomination went to the band The Ricks, which won Album of Australia for ‘The Last Hour’.AC’s ‘Bust the Walls’ was nominated for Australia’s first Album of Best Dance and Hip-Hop Album in a Country Album category.AC was nominated in four different categories: Album of Originality, Best Pop Album and Best New Artist.
