I had the opportunity to interview John Schneider a few weeks ago, and we had a good chat about the new Simpsons episode “The Man Who Sold the World.”
And the rest is history.
Schneider is a producer on “The Simpsons” and, according to Deadline, he is set to return to the show in an unspecified capacity for a second season.
So, there you have it: John Schnider is set for another stint on “Sideshow Bob,” and we are about to see how much of his comedic contributions he can deliver.
The question is: Will we ever get to see him in a Simpsons-esque outfit?
“I’ve been looking for something a little bit different, and I’ve found something that will work for this new season,” Schneiders manager, Todd Laugman, told Deadline.
“John will be doing all his work in his usual outfit and will not be dressed up.”
Schneiders new role will allow him to “play the part of a little guy who is a little less serious, who is still dealing with the loss of his wife,” Laugmans statement continues.
“He’s a guy who has to do his job with the utmost dignity, and he has to be careful of being too funny.
He has to play the role of someone who wants to go out and make money, but also has to keep his emotions in check.”
In the upcoming season, we’ll be seeing Homer’s (voiced by John Lasseter) parents, Mrs. Simpson (voicemail: the mother) and Mr. Simpson, discuss how Homer got into the business, and finally, we’re likely to see Homer take a job as a delivery boy, as he does for Mr. Burns, at the Springfield amusement park.
“I think that he’ll be doing his dad-and-daughter role in that part,” Laughman said.
“But I think we’ll see him be able to do a little more of the ‘Mannix’ part of it, where he’s dealing with Homer’s parents and trying to take care of them.”
The episode will be the first in a new “Sci-Fi” era for “The Springfield Files,” which airs on NBC on March 25.
The new show is expected to premiere on Fox on March 31.
