Valli produce singer Mona Lisa has revealed she has been struggling with mental health issues since her teens.
The actress, who is in her 60s, told the Radio Times that she is not sure if her health issues are her own or are connected to the recent death of her brother-in-law, Richard.
“When I was younger, I used to think I was pretty smart and good at what I did.
But I have a really difficult time relating to people because I can’t be myself,” she said.”
There is this really difficult period where you feel like you are on the verge of going crazy.
It was the same for my brother- in-law and I’ve had that for the past 30 years.”
Valli produced the award-winning album, ‘My Own Little World’, and her debut album ‘Tales From The Heart’.
Mona Lisa was born in the US to a Greek immigrant mother and an American father, and later moved to London and eventually Paris.
She is now based in LA, but was previously based in New York.
“I’m not sure where I came from.
I think it was a lot of people coming here from other parts of the world.
My parents were really hard-working people, but they had a lot to give,” she told the magazine.”
My parents were both immigrants, but my father came from a Greek background and I’m from a Chinese background.”
She was a vocalist with British rock band The Cure, and in 2001 was named one of the “100 most influential people in music” by the BBC.
Mona is survived by her husband, David, and daughter, Lisa, who lives in New Jersey.
